Your first dance as a newly married couple has got to be the most memorable moment of the evening reception for the Bride & Groom and their guests. Even for us DJ’s it is also a magically moment if we get the chance to take a few snaps whilst the rays of light beam over the happy couple. Even better when special FX of Bubbles and/or confetti cannons are hired, this provides the most stunning of photos when doing a first dance.
How do we know a song is the right choice?
As the saying goes “When you know, you know”. Your choice has to have meaning. Think of a time, a special moment in your relationship before marriage that maybe you had that one song that gave you both happy memories. Every relationship should have some kind of love story right? This is how we fall in love and get to the point of getting hitched. so finding that special song with lyrics that match your relationship as a couple is key and can be meaningful to you both on the day.
Many couples tend to leave the “Choosing of the first dance” until last minute. As mentioned above this is one of the most memorable moments for you and your guests at your night time reception so choosing that perfect song is key and should be done within plenty of time and with lots of thought.

Ed Sheeran seems to be the top most popular artist when it comes down to First Dance tracks. Spilling timely and meaningful lyrics in a number of his songs throughout the past couple of years. “Thinking out Loud” has certainly been played through our speakers on a number of occasions and still is requested to date. Another of Ed’s top asked for slow songs is “Perfect” go have a listen, let us know what you think.
Eric Clapton’s, Wonderful Tonight track is an absolute classic and sets the mood for that perfect slow dance moment. Hitting the spot when it comes to lyrics it can be almost as if the groom is telling his beautiful bride exactly how he feels about her. Aaahhh give s a tissue!!!
We have also has the modern day version of the “Wonderful Tonight” hit sung by the 90’s chart topping band Damage
Heart and Soul John Legend’s, “All of me” is a true classic, with touching lyrics and soft melodies in the background. It talks about love and how one partner feels about another it’s just simply fitting and a truly breathtaking song.
